LAHORE: High Court on Wednesday conditionally allowed the opposition parties’ protest announcing its decision on a petition filed by the traders of Mall Road and Advocate AK Dogar, reported Daily Times. According to the detailed verdict, the protest by the opposition parties will have to be finished by 12 midnight and there will be no media coverage for the protest after that. The three-member bench headed by Justice Aminuddin also warned the protesters against taking law into their hands. Justice Shahid Jamil and Justice Shahid Karim were the other two judges in the bench. The petition had been filed by Advocate AK Dogar had maintained that the protest was in violation of the Act 124 of Pakistan Penal Code. The petition was heard on Tuesday by LHC but was set aside after recommending a larger bench. The court ordered the deputy commissioner of Lahore to provide complete security to the protesters. It further ordered taking measures for the facilitation of the traffic and common public. Ordering Government of Punjab, Inspector General of Punjab Police and Deputy Commissioner of Lahore to submit the report on the implementation of the orders, LHC adjourned the hearing of the case till January 31. The court also summoned the lawyers of both the parties to explain the legal points against the sit-ins on the next hearing.
