DUBAI: Nobel laureate and female education rights activist Malala Yousufzai’s The Malala Fund, with the help of The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF)’s US$700,000 donation is set to build a girls’ school in Swat Valley. TBHF, a Sharjah-based charity organisation announced on Tuesday that it has donated the amount via its ‘Girl Child Fund’ to establish an educational institute for girls in Malala’s hometown which would cater schooling of up to 350 girls. The project announcement was made during an event in Oxford, London, where the Nobel laureate expressed gratitude to TBHF for the organisation’s support in promoting girls’ education in Pakistan. “I overwhelmingly thank The Big Heart Foundation for believing in my dream of a world where girls can choose their own future path. With their support, the Malala Fund can provide education for girls in my hometown, Swat Valley in Pakistan,” said Malala.
