LAHORE: Chief Justice (CJ) of Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Friday clarified that he had not resigned and the story published in a national English daily was baseless, reported Daily Times. It was reported in a national daily in its paper today that LHC CJ had resigned in a bid to avoid his elevation to Supreme Court. It also claimed that certain steps taken by him ‘to curb the culture of resorting to violence in the legal fraternity’, certain lawyer groups had become frustrated with him. The paper went as far as claiming that Justice Yawar Ali was going to take oath as LHC CJ on January 18 since Mansoor Ali Shah had resigned and that he would have gone on to become Chief Justice of Pakistan for at least three years. Strongly rejecting the report, Chief Justice said that he did not expect such act or irresponsibility from media.
