MIRPUR KHAS: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday that he had the spirit of Bhutto within him. He was addressing a rally on Friday in Mirpurkhas to celebrate Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s 90th anniversary. “I may not be from Bhutto’s lineage, but Bhutto’s spirit is definitely in me,” he said. Zardari said that the PPP’s ideology was given to it by Bhutto. “PPP is the party of labourers; of the poor and down trodden masses. Our worker demands from us and we give to them. This is what Bhutto taught. You have to fight for your right. We go to the people, people shouldn’t come to us.” Zardari criticised Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif saying: “Bilawal for four years told the ruling party to appoint a foreign minister. Now, they have appointed someone who can barely speak English. He is the one representing us in the global arena.” Referring to Nawaz Sharif’s statements about spilling the beans, he said that the biggest mystery was Nawaz himself. “Those who cannot even win union council elections, how can they garner so many votes. Governments can be made this way, but they cannot be run like this.” “Don’t send us messages, which you think will scare us. We are only scared of God. You can’t scare us or make us run away,” Zardari said. Zardari praised the PPP’s efforts in Sindh, stating that all the development that had taken place were due to the efforts of former Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah and current CM Murad Ali Shah. “The electricity plant that has been setup in Thar and the airport that has been constructed is due to the efforts of the Sindh government, Qaim Ali Shah and Murad Ali Shah. Murad Ali Shah will continue to be the CM of Sindh,” Zardari said. Published in Daily Times, January 6th 2018.
