LAHORE: Balochistan MPA Majeed Khan Achakzai was granted bail by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday in an ongoing case against him regarding the killing of a traffic sergeant in Quetta by his overspeeding vehicle in June. The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) politician was presented before the court for the proceeding today where Judge Dawood Khan Nasar set his bail at Rs 500,000. The amount was paid by his lawyer Noor Jahan Buledi. After the court proceedings, Buledi said that his client would be released tomorrow. Taffic seargent Haji Attaullah was killed near GPO Chowk in Quetta in June when Achakzai’s overspeeding vehicle ran over him. Although, the case was registered against ‘unknown persons’, Achzakzai’s car was identified by the public in a video of the incident that became viral on social media. Following the identification of his car, Achakzai was arrested. He said that he had agreed to monetarily compensate the victim’s family. He was presented before a judicial magistrate who remanded him to police custody. Last week, he was acquitted by the court in a vehicle tampering case which was related to this case.
