LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Saturday urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to make the Justice Najfi Commission report public. He was addressing a protest rally held on The Mall via video link. Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, Pak Sarzameen Party, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Majlis Wahdatul Muslameen, Sunni Ittahad Council and lawyers and human rights groups also participated in the rally. The charged PAT workers were carrying placards, banners and flags and chanting slogans against the ruling party. Qadri said that the current situation would not have arisen if his application about implementation on Article 62, 63 had been accepted by the Supreme Court in 2013. “Across the board accountability should be held throughout the country. The existing system based on corruption will continue if the Sharifs are not held accountable,” he said. He said his party workers had sacrificed their lives to get rid of the corrupt system. “Their struggle still continues for getting justice in the Model town case. We also want to change the existing corrupt system. Several workers who participated in his long march toward Islamabad still face fake and bogus cases,” he said. “The details of wealth, assets, accounts, luxury vehicles, luxurious palaces, farm houses and properties of every parliamentarian should be made public,” he said. He said that someone powerful was creating hurdles in the way of making the Najfi Commission report public despite the fact that his party had moved the trial court, the high court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan in this regard. “Nothing much will change even if the court delivers it verdict against the rulers in the Panama Leaks case,” he said. Manzoor Wattoo of the PPP, PTI’s Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed and Chaudhry Sarwar, Liaqat Baloch of JI, Mian Atteque of MQM-P and Mukhtar Ahmad of PSP, Khuram Nawaz Gandapur and some other leaders also addressed the protesters and unanimously demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down. Around four to five thousand people participated in the rally and later dispersed peacefully. Published in Daily Times, July 16th , 2017.
