LAHORE: Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Saqib Nisar, on Saturday, responded to the criticism directed towards him following his visit to Mayo Hospital in Lahore earlier this week. CJ Nisar visited the government hospital earlier this week for an ongoing case related to drinking water in Pakistan. Following the visit, he was widely criticised by political parties. The visit came just after the day the Supreme Court (SC) disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) former general secretary Jahangir Tareen on the basis of Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution of Pakistan. It said that Tareen had used suspicious language in his statements and had not declared his offshore company. He headed the three-member bench that gave the verdict. He also said that his visit was in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan and it was obligatory on the judiciary to ensure the protection of the basic human rights. He also clarified that he had no desire of being a political leader and was only acting on his Constitutional duties. He added that he just wanted to ensure the security of human life. He further said that there was no ventilator facility at Mayo Hospital.
