LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) will launch ‘Tehreek-e-Qisas’ in response to ‘Tehreek-e-Adl’ announced by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Nawaz Sharif, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said on Wednesday. While addressing a press conference along with former prime minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Attique, Qadri said they would announce the start of their movement on the day Nawaz will launch his campaign. The PAT chief criticised Nawaz Sharif over motto of his planned movement, asking why the PML-N leader did not think of equality and justice in the case of Model Town incident of 2014. The PAT chief said Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had admitted the Model Town operation on the assembly’s floor. He demanded that people accused of creating chaos in Model Town must surrender by December 31. He also advised PAT workers to be prepared and collect warm clothes for protests out in the open. Qadri has previously demanded that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah step down from their positions by December 31, in the wake of the Model Town inquiry report. Sardar Attique said the Model Town incident was the worst episode in the country’s history and added that they stand by Qadri in his movement. According to the inquiry report, police tried to cover up the facts regarding who gave orders to open fire on protesters. “The level of cooperation in digging out the truth is that no police official from top to bottom, whether actively participated in the operation or not, did utter a single word about the person under whose command the police resorted to firing upon the PAT workers.” Published in Daily Times, December 21st 2017.
