GUJRANWALA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Gujranwala Information Secretary Sagheer Butt on Monday demanded a signal-free-corridor Pindi Bypass to Chan Da Qila to streamline traffic on the GT Road. “Projects completed without proper planning are not fruitful. They will cause a loss to the government exchequer,” he said, while addressing a meeting in his office. “Like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan and other big cities, the main GT Road should be converted to a signal free because citizens are facing great difficulties in travelling in the city. Road accidents have become a routine matter. One DHQ hospital is not sufficient to meet the needs of 5 million population. There is a great need for upgrade of this hospital and also to construct new hospitals in the city,” he said. “Due to negligence of parliamentarians and other departments, Gujranwala city has turned into a heap of garbage. Instead of providing relief to the people, the Gujranwala Waste Management Company is involved in corruption,” he said. RPO: Acting RPO Ashfaq Khan on Monday directed all police officers of the region to beef up security arrangements ahead of December 25.
