KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq said on Sunday that the Ummah should unite to foil conspiracies against Muslims. The JI chief was addressing the ‘Al-Quds Million March’ held in Karachi to protest against US President Trump’s decision to declare Jerusalem Israel’s capital. He said his party was holding the march to express solidarity with the people of Palestine and to convey a message to their Palestinian brothers that Muslims across the world were with them. ‘Down with the US and Israel’ and ‘Jerusalem belongs to Palestine’ were some of the slogans raised by the participants. A large number of people, including women and children were part of the march. “We salute to the brave Palestinians’ sacrifices for Jerusalem but never accepted the Israeli occupation”, adding this he said as long as one Muslim is alive in the world, we are not going to accept the Jerusalem as the Israeli’s capital,” he added While addressing the huge crowd, he said that Islamic Military Alliance (IMA) should liberate the occupied Al-Quds. He said the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) would have to go beyond issuing statements only and take practical measures to liberate the Qibla-e-Awwal. Haq called on all Muslim nations to suspend diplomatic ties with the US to save Al Quds until it reconsidered its Jerusalem decision. “It is a conspiracy of the enemy to divide the Ummah on sectarian and ethnic lines,” he said. “Struggle for Jerusalem will continue till reversal of the US decision. Jerusalem can never become the capital city of Israel,” he said, predicting that 2018 was the year of freedom of Jerusalem and Kashmir. “An Islamic revolution will also take place soon. Muslims leaders are asleep, but the Ummah is awake,” he said. The Al-Quds million march’ intended to express solidarity with Palestinians and protest against US President Donald Trump’s recent decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. He announced that earlier this month, JI would hold countrywide protests over Jerusalem. Sirajul Haq termed Trump’s decision as adding fuel to the fire. “Trump has put global peace in danger,” he added He strongly condemned the Quetta church attack in which eight people were killed, adding that India was behind the attack. “India, the US and Israel have formed a troika against Pakistan,” he said. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that terrorism by United States was destroying world peace. The march started from Nipa Chowrangi and culminated at Hassan Square. The JI had arranged camps at the key points at all roads in Karachi to facilitate to participants of the million march. Published in Daily Times, December 18th 2017.
