LARKANA: A single-storey building in Larkana collapsed on Wednesday morning, killing two workers. An empty plot owner Gul Muhammad Shaikh wanted to construct a building where digging was made through a heavy machine along Bakrani road area. The driver dug up so deep that the nearby single storey building collapsed, those killed were identified as an 18-year-old Mahboob Ali and a 45-year-old Rajib Ali who were asleep on the rooftop of the building. They were rushed to Chandka Medical College Hospital where duty doctors pronounced them as dead. The collapsed building had shops on the ground floor and a house on the first floor where these labourers were staying. Both were working as labourers at a sweet shop and belonged to village Meharban Jatoi of Muzzafar Garh, district of Punjab. Their third colleague fortunately escaped the tragic incident as he had left the building few minutes before. On hearing the sad news, deputy commissioner Kashif Ali Tipu, ASP City Dr Imran, other related officers and Edhi ambulances reached the spot and started rescue the provision of rescue services. The collapsed building belongs to Ali Nawaz Shaikh. The building owner told media that the plot owner dug up more than the requirement due to which the foundation of his building became very weak and it collapsed. He demanded stern action be taken against the plot owner. DC and ASP said that investigation will be conducted and those found guilty will be taken to task. No case was registered till filing of this report.
