KARACHI: A 30-member delegation of Chinese companies called on Sindh Minister for Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Thursday. The delegation, comprising representatives of companies NRA, CR5D1, CREC and CRCC, was led by Wang Yu. The delegation members interacted with Shah and discussed the revival of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) Project. Transport and Mass Transit Secretary Saeed Ahmed Awan warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation. On the occasion, he informed them about the progress, modalities and design matters with particular reference to revival of the KCR project, which is part of CPEC. “Various positive steps have been taken by the by the government of Sindh about the project. The main problem and issue is encroachments and provision of alternate places to people being affected by the KCR project and the route of the main line,” he said. He said that Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah and Transport Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah had also attended the JCC meeting at Islamabad on the issue held under the chairmanship of the PM prior to visiting Beijing in this regard to hold meeting with NDRC and Chinese government. On November 14, a video conference was also held to discuss and review the progress on the issue. Minister Transport and Mass Transit Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also welcomed the visiting delegation on behalf of the government of Sindh. He offered full support, cooperation and facilities provided to the Chinese delegation in the project at every level. “The safety and security of the visiting friends is being ensured,” he said.
