LAHORE: The Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights has taken notice of an incident in which a 16-year-old girl was allegedly paraded naked in Dera Ismail Khan village last month. The committee has also convened a session on Wednesday to discuss the matter. Notices have also been issued to Ministry of Human Rights secretary and to the secretary of interior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, asking them to attend tomorrow’s session. The Senate committee has also sought a report on the matter. The incident took place in Garamat village of DI Khan last month when the 16-year-old girl was cornered while returning home after fetching water. According to the survivor, the accused tore her clothes and made her walk the streets of the village. The prime accused, Sajawal, harassed the girl as a revenge.
