ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) president Humayun Khan said on Saturday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was a hurdle in the way of providing justice to the victim in the Dera Ismail Khan case. Humayun Khan said that PTI leader had the right to deal with his party’s issues. “However, he does not have the right to protect criminals who are responsible of shameful incident of Dera Ismail Khan in which a young girl was insulted,” he said. The PPP provincial president said that Imran Khan had neither sympathised with the victim or her family, nor ordered an inquiry. “PPP is with the victim and her family. The PTI chief doesn’t care what happens to the people of KP because he has mineral resources of KP as his target,” Humayun Khan said. Imran Khan accuses opponents: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday accused his political opponents of misrepresenting facts and exploiting the DI Khan case for political gains. The PTI chief took to social media to vent out his anger over the ‘misleading’ coverage of the issue and criticism hurled at him and his party in failing to bring the culprits to justice. According to the police, the 16-year-old girl’s brother had an affair with a woman. After learning about it, the village’s council ruled that the woman’s family could retaliate by disrespecting his sister. On October 27 morning, when the girl was fetching water, a group of men accosted and stripped her, dragging along the ground before making her walk around naked for an hour. The girl ran and sought refuge in the house of a religious leader. Imran Khan said that his political opponents, aided by some in media, were seeking to misrepresent facts for their own ‘desperate political ambitions’.
