KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the release of Rs 2.9 million, which had been deposited under land occupancy charges, to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Enterprise and Investment Promotion (E&IP) department. The amount was being deposited with the Nazir of the SHC by Weekly Bachat Bazaar Association for last two years. E&IP Senior Director Abdul Khalique, on the directives of city Mayor Waseem Akhtar and Chairman Qaiser Imtiaz, moved an urgent application, requesting the court to release land occupancy charges in favour of the KMC. While accepting the request, the SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Sadaat Khan, directed the Nazir to release the amount. Published in Daily Times, November 10th 2017.
