ISLAMABAD: Goals, grit and determination – three aspects that have shone through perceptibly during the last two weeks as the Ufone Football Championship currently underway in Balochistan nears its climax. Football teams from schools, colleges, universities and clubs have battled it out and it has all come down to the last four stage. The teams will now lock horns in the semi-finals at the Ayub Stadium in Quetta on Wednesday (today). The first semi-final will be played between Buitems University Quetta and Muslim Chaman Football Club at 10.00 am. Both teams have performed consistently throughout the tournament with attacks perfectly complementing their defences. While there have been goals at the front, defences have been tight at the back ensuring they do not leak too many goals. The much anticipated game is expected to cause fireworks as two of the best teams of the tournament will clash against each other. The second semi-final will be played between Young Afghan Football Club Pishin and Baba e Balochistan Mir GhousBuksh Football Club Khuzdar and much like the first one, it is going to be a clash of the titans. Both the teams have withheld all challenges in the tournament so far and have come out successfully unscathed. Football enthusiasts in particular will be looking forward to see the semi-finals as some of the best footballers in Balochistan battle against each other. Ufone’s primary objective of holding this tournament is to provide a platform to the footballing talent in Pakistan.
