LAHORE: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, on Wednesday, through a letter informed the Senate about forged Pakistani documents of slain Taliban leader Mullah Mansoor. According to the letter, National Identity Card (NIC) was issued by the name of Muhammad Wali, son of Shah Muhammad. Ahsan told the Senate that in a departmental inquiry, three culprits involved in the issuing of ‘fake’ NIC were removed from the office. He said that the cases against the accused were underway. Senator Farhatullah Babar expressed his reservations about the issue and said that the legal action was being taken in an effective way. “This is not the solution to the issue,” he said and added that the matter should be investigated at a high level and culprits must be unveiled and held accountable for their actions. Mansoor and his companions were targeted on May 21 by a US drone strike near the town of Ahmad Wal in Balochistan near the Afghan border. Mansoor had assumed the Taliban leadership in July 2015.
