GUJRANWALA: Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said that instead of traditional methods; an out-of-the-box strategy had to be adapted to resolve the issues of expatriate Pakistanis. Bhatti was presiding over a meeting to review the resolution process of complaints of Overseas Pakistanis in Gujranwala. Gujranwala Division Commissioner Mohammad Asif, RPO Sultan Azam Taimori, Additional DG OPC, DIG Agha Yousaf, Director Revenue Ishrat Ullah Niazi and, Deputy Commissioner were joined by DPOs of Gujwanwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Hafzabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat at the meeting. Afzaal Bhatti said that there was a need for collective efforts to safeguard the rights of Overseas Pakistanis and role of district administration and police was pivotal in this regard. Bhatti appreciated the efforts of field officers of Gujranwala Division in resolution of the issues of Overseas Pakistanis and said that by virtue of the input of field officers at district level, complaints of Overseas Pakistanis could be addressed early. He further suggested that at least 2 meetings of District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPCs) be held in a month and the proceedings to be uploaded on OPC web portal. Gujranwala Division Commissioner Mohammad Asif instructed the field officers to pursue a vigorous policy to settle the issues of overseas Pakistanis. Published in Daily Times, October 11th 2017.
