KARACHI: A close relative of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London’s founder Altaf Hussain was reportedly detained by law enforcers. MQM-L has claimed that Abdul Aziz Ansari alias Chand Bhai was arrested on Tuesday while Hussain’s cousin Khalid Hussain who was earlier arrested during a raid in Karachi on July 19 was ‘missing’. In a press statement issued by MQM-L coordination committee, it strongly condemned the arrest of the Ansari, saying that a 52-year-old Ansari is an employee of the District Municipal Corporation, East in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. “As soon as he sat into his car after leaving the office on Tuesday, plainclothes personnel took him away with them in a SUV,” reads a statement. “The plainclothes personnel of spy agency also had covered their faces with masks.” It reads that Ansari had no links with the politics but has been arrested twice. Since he lives in Azizabad area, was earlier arrested during a paramilitary raid at Nine-Zero on March 11, 2015. The statement further stated that the whereabouts of Khalid Hussain who was picked up from North Nazimabad have remained untraceable. The coordination committee demanded immediate release of the Altaf Hussain’s relatives. Meanwhile, law enforcers have not admitted the arrests. Published in Daily Times, July 27th 2017.
