LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Monday said he wished Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif stayed as the provincial chief minister. Sanaullah said that Shahbaz had proven himself as a competent administrator through fast-paced development projects. “Former PM Nawaz Sharif still has a chance to become the premier yet again. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will request the Supreme Court to grant the review petition the status of an appeal. Nawaz Sharif can come to power if a stay order is obtained on the decision of the larger bench,” he said. “Shahbaz Sharif has proven himself to be an efficient administrator. I wish he remains to oversee the development of the province. In my opinion, he is the best administrator we could ever get,” he said. Shahbaz was first elected as chief minister of Punjab in 1997. Two years later General Pervez Musharraf ousted the Sharifs in a military coup and both brothers went into exile in Saudi Arabia, not returning until 2007. Shahbaz was again elected as chief minister of Punjab in 2008 and has been in power ever since then. Published in Daily Times, August 1st , 2017.
