NAUDERO: More than 400 students out of a total enrolment of 1,275 female students of government girls secondary and higher level school Naudero haven’t yet benefited from the government’s provision of free text books. Education Department has claimed that all girl students have been given books free of cost under enhancing enrolment programme besides bringing in out of school children into the school education net. Due to non-provision of books, the education process of the affected girls has not been started in school after the summer vacation. About 200 girls out of 290 of class six have been provided course books and not a single student of class seventh has been provided with books. Around 38 students have left school, out of a total strength of 238 students of class VIII, two students out of 222 of class IX were still waiting for free books and 25 students of class X with total enrolment of 245 have been deprived of their right of free books. In-charge Principal, Tahmina Korai told journalists that during the education secretary’s visit before the summer vacation she had informed him that 435 students are been waiting to avail the benefit of free books. He had assured us but nothing has so far been done in this connection, she lamented. Several complaints to concerned district education officers have also gone waste, she concluded. District Officer (Secondary), Akhtar Korejo when contacted has said that during the visit of the education secretary a list was handed to him of the shortfall of text books of the entire district.
