UMERKOT: Chief Justice Sindh High Court has taken sou moto notice of alleged involvement of court staff in torturing a lady doctor and paramedic in court premises, and sought report from District and Session Judge Umerkot. It was surfaced on Augut 3, when Dr Kiran and Tejan, a paramedic of district head quarter hospital Umerkot spoke to the media they were then taken to the Judicial Complex of Umerkot from their houses by police. Where they were abused, humiliated and tortured jointly in the court room by police and Akbar Rahimoon, Superintendent of Court on pretext of refusing a visit to the residence of a Civil Judge for his son’s treatment. Chief Justice Sindh High Court has taken sou moto after videos of lady doctor and paramedic went viral on social media and reports on electronic and print media. Talking to the Daily Times Advocate Zulfiqar Gajoo, General Secretary District Bar Association Umerkot said the Bar has passed a resolution in meeting, demanding inquiry from Sindh High Court Judge instead. They said they have questioned over appointment of District and Session Judge Umerkot as to probe into the matter. He said a delegation would meet Chief Justice Sindh High Court soon. Advocate Shoukat Rahimoon of District Bar Association of Mirpurkhas condemned torturing doctor and paramedic staff by court staff. Pakistan Medical Association and Paramedical Association district Umerkot have taken out rallies from civil hospital to Press club after boycotting Out Door Patient duties and demanded justice into the matter. The protest was led by Dr Jam Kumbhar, MS Civil Hospital Umerkot, Dr Kiran, Dr lela Pardeep and Asif Janjhi of Paramedical Association Umerkot. Published in Daily Times, August 5th 2017.
