KARACHI: Former director information Karachi Zeenat Jahan, who has recently been transferred to Sukkur, has appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to take notice of his ‘illegal transfer’ at the behest of ‘corrupt elements’ within the department. She alleged she was being punished for refusing to cover up the shenanigans of political bosses. “First of all I would like to bring into your knowledge that I have been transferred to Sukkur for pointing out corrupt practices and elements with in the Sindh Information and Archives Department. My transfer is a violation of services rules and regulations as a female employee cannot be transferred to the district than from which she belongs to.” She has alleged that minister has not only misbehaved with her but has also threatened her of dire consequences, also asked me to act upon illegal and unlawful directives. It is worth mentioning that corrupt elements in the departments recently promoted Director Moeez Pirzada and Deputy Director Mansoor Ahmed Rajput who is out on bail and facing a corruption reference. She said she was being punished for refusing to sign documents, showing more expenditure on construction of a so-called facilitation center more than the actual cost. The centre was built during the tenure of former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon who is also on bail in a multi-billion NAB reference. She explained the Facilitation Centre is meant for creating paperless environment – computerization of all manual record of the department and networking of the all sections of the Directorate of the Information. On the papers the total expenses incurred on the project have been mentioned as Rs 199.5 million, which is much more than the actual amount spent on it, she alleged. “A visit to the center will prove the claim. It has no such equipments worth millions of rupees. Now after its inauguration, it is of no use. The project was only launched to embezzle public money,” she alleged.
