KARACHI: The non construction of Pak Colony Road is causing huge traffic jams and environmental pollution, troubling the citizens as there is no alternate plan and diversion, people have complained during the visit of the spot on Wednesday. The residents of Golimar, Pak Colony and Muslima Abad who travel through this route complained of extremely slow velocity of construction and sewerage work from Muslim Abad Nala to Barra Board. Ali Shah, Shopkeeper at Gas Supplier told Daily Times that this project commenced before Ramzan but NO work has been done yet whereas the road from Muslim Abad Nala is the main cause of problems and has witnessed zero percent progress. The construction of road and sewerage work started together that is why it is in worst situation. Many shopkeepers have shifted their business from here only due to this dust. “My family is suffering only due to this lethargic project”, said Wali Muhammad, a mechanic In addition he said that Government can not imagine the loss which we have been facing for a long time, I have been running my shop here for 35 years it is the worst time of my whole tenure, every one is shifting his business from here, you can see the all close shops, Muhammad added “The dust fills in the air the whole day and enters into the bodies of people working, living or passing through these areas”, commented a lady who was waiting for the bus along the road. She viewed that only one track is being used for all traffic which creates traffic jams and is the cause of accidents on daily basis which claimed at least 2 lives including a child student in a misfortune near Marble market, its become a routine now. The residents are suffering the most due to worst environmental condition as there are many local business and whole sale shops of marbles. At the road edge Norani Awan Hotel’s, Owner Shabbir told that 50 to 60 percent business has gone down, people do not use this way so how can we have business, he said adding that we are thinking to windup hotel from here because it seems that project is not ever going to complete . Muhammad Mushtaq who was living with 16 member family, his house was demolished due to extension of this road but the amount paid was Rs10,000 per squire yard which is not enough to buy a house anywhere in Karachi, he complained that due to the demolition we have been out on road and with this amount we can not even buy a plot. Three major contractors are working on site Qasim & Company, D-Baloch and FWO, all three are blaming each other for the delay. According to Khalid Khan, Project manager of Qasim & Company due to heavy rain and after that the flooding is the major cause of delay in the work, we had to stop the work in rainy days and it takes time to drain out the mud. To a question he said that project was to be completed till 30th June 2017 but due to natural disaster and some technical reasons we couldn’t complete it but now we have taken time till 31st August 2017 to complete it.
