KARACHI: Five members gang took away 7 million in just 5 minutes from a private bank situated near Do minute Chowrangi in North Karachi area on Wednesday. The police has initially detained the security guards of the bank on the bases of suspicion to investigate the case, after the event IG Sindh has taken notice of the robbery and has directed the police officials to submit the complete report of the incident in one day. According to the SHO Asif Munawar on Wednesday 2 members of a robbers gang entered a bank located near Do minute chowrangi in North Karachi area at around 10:45 AM and soon after 3 other companions of them came in and snatched the guns from private security guards of bank then they all entered the inner area and collected 7 million 30 thousand and 50 Rupees from cash counter and escaped, all of them were armed and used three motorcycles for escape. A total of five suspects broke in through the glass widows during the incident and went on to loot the bank. Three of them escaped on two bikes, while another – wearing a cap and helmet to hide his identity, took the neighboring street to flee. He further added. After that rapid bank heist teams of specialized investigation unit and forensic experts with the local police and high-ups of District west reached on the spot and collected evidence to initiate investigations and obtained statements of bank manager and other officials. Police has detained two private security guards of bank in the initial proceedings provided by M/S SOS Security Company for interrogation. IG Sindh has taken notice of robbery and directed DIG West to submit complete report of incident in one day and to arrest the accused as soon as possible. Its is pertinent to mention that last month, security guards robbed Rs. 14.7 million from a foreign exchange company located in Defence area which was claimed to be the biggest robbery in Karachi this year. Ten days prior to the above mentioned theft, the census team in an act of bravery foiled a robbery attempt on Karachi’s Abul Hasan Isphahani road area, catching two of the three armed dacoits who had come to target a supply delivery van. As per CPLC’s 2016 statistics, 19,336 cases of mobile snatching were reported in the year, as street crime has grown by 38%. In addition, 22,358 motorcycles were snatched – the figure has risen by 24% compared to 2015. However, car theft has declined in the period.
