KHAIRPUR: Former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has said that the sacked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has always been committing false promises with Sindh growers and people for releasing funds for flood victims. While Pakistan Peoples Party government protected dykes to save the public without getting any funds from the federal government. Addressing an inauguration ceremony of a 2-day international date seminar and festival at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto open air theater, Qaim said that they established the first economic zone Khairpur for the promotion of Sindh’s growers and industrialists. He said that the world was heading towards tissue culture so we have also started this programme and would plant Ajwa and other date trees in Khairpur to maintain international standard and this could be done with honesty and hard work. He announced that a factory of dates would be established in Khairpur while a packing plant would be established in the Khairpur economic zone very soon for export. Qaim asked secretary agriculture to come forward and take interest for the promotion of mango and date sectors and a survey should be conducted for the development. He said Sindh government has been paying attention for development of mango in Mirpurkhas and now we were obtaining 100 varieties of mango and urged to introduce more varieties of date in Sindh. Secretary Agriculture Sindh Sajid Jamal Abro told that we should pay attention on tissue culture in order to get more varieties of date. In this regard a tissue laboratory will be established in Kotdiji soon and would be completed by 2018. He said 40,000 date palm tissue culture tree plants were distributed among growers free of cost in Sindh while in Khairpur agro and export processing zone would be established like in Karachi.
