LAHORE: After holding a sit-in against on The Mall earlier this week against the Model Town killings, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri Monday left for London on a weeklong visit. Talking to the media before his departure at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, the PAT chief said he was going to London to attend an international conference and would return to Pakistan. He said that he was not fleeing the country and would celebrate Eidul Azha in the hometown. He criticised the Sharif family for evading appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and said that arrest warrants for the Sharif family could be issued. He urged the Sharif family to appear before NAB investigators and said that the Supreme Court could issue arrest warrants against them (Sharif) if they continue to evade NAB summons. He said it was a golden opportunity for the anti-graft body to improve its image and reputation by taking action against the powerful elite class. Replying to a question, he said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would not be able to amend the constitution on Nawaz’s whim. He also demanded justice for the victims of the Model Town incident. Pertinent to mention here is that Qadri has announced to hold sit in different cities after Eidul Azha to get justice for the victims of the Model Town incident.
