UMERKOT: A 15-member district peace advisory committee has been formed consisting of all factions of society owing to prevailing threats to peace and pluralism in the area. A meeting under aegis of Sami Foundation, a local non-governmental organisation has selected Mufti Ali Ahmed Jamali, Molvi Irshad Ali, Purkho Mal, Father Willliam, Prof Jalal Kori, Shakeel, Shakeel Bajwa, Nawab Rajar, Allah Bux Arisar, Mumtaz Arisar, Naheed Khattak, Advocate Ponjo Bheel and others on committee. Members of civil society and religious clerics attended the meeting. Mir Hassan Arisar said role of civil society was to curb controversies through bringing all stakeholders on a page, therefore, they were making efforts as a precautionary measure. Extremism from either side is not in interest of anybody. Mufti Ahmed Jamali, district Khatib said that keeping in view prevailing situation there was need of a platform with representation of all religion and their sects, whereas, the issues should be discussed and measures be taken accordingly.
