KARACHI: Due to the heavy rains with thunderstorm in Karachi has caused chaos in the largest cattle market but immediate measures have not been taken to improve the market condition yet. It appeared as if a flood has swept away the cattle market situated at Super Highway. Due to the accumulated rain water an out burst of diseases may occur in sacrificial animals as the rains has created massive problems for the animal traders also. The prices of sacrificial animals have risen up as the traders say they want to recover their loss gained during the rains, Daily Times was informed. The Traders have done as much as they could to accommodate themselves and they have implored the administration to take measures to survive as the result of rain mud and unhygienic conditions has made animals very vulnerable to diseases. “I have been unable to sleep since the rain because my earnings of the whole year were all standing in water and mud. We are helping ourselves, since the administration is busy helping out VIP blocks,” said Faqeer Soomro, a cattle trader. He informed that the market administration was only paying attention to make money, as the said facilities are not being provided despite receiving huge amount. Another trader Teheseen who brought 25 animals from NawabShah said the administration should have made arrangements to tackle the emergency situation, since we had gone through the same situation last year also so they must have taken some precautions. Many of traders had not managed to fix their tents again, one of them Perveez Qureshi is from Kandh Kot, who has been coming to Cattle Market the last 40 years and he complained that the tent is in very poor condition which can not be pitched again and about the lighting system he informed that last year a guy named Zia Bhai managed it fantastically.
