KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Tuesday overturned 21-years term handed down to a Muttahida Qaumi Movement activist in a case relating to recovery of arms and explosive materials. A division bench of SHC heard appeal of MQM worker Zubair alias Laddo against prison sentence awarded to him by an anti-terrorism court. The court after concluding hearing of arguments of the convict’s counsel and prosecutor announced its verdict, overturning the prison sentence and fine imposed on him by the ATC. The court directed to release the convict if he is not involved in any other case. According to police, arms and explosive materials were recovered from Zubair. An FIR was registered against him in Garden Police station and subsequently he was tried in an ATC court which handed him 21-years term and impose fine. The convict is a worker of MQM Lyari Sector.
