LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday issued notices to the provincial minister Bilal Yasin and Member Punjab assembly Majid Zahoor of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for violating election code of conduct. The commission sought their replies within next three days. The district returning officer for the NA-120 issued notices to Bilal Yasin and Majid Zahoor for allegedly violating poll conduct after both the MPAs participated in the Data Darbar rally of the PML-N on Tuesday. The rally, which was addressed by Maryam Nawaz, was part of the election campaign. The commission also sought a response from the Punjab chief secretary within next two days after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan People’s Party had asked it to take notice of the party’s election campaign being run from the Chief Minister’s House in Model Town. Earlier, Dr Yasmin Rashid, PTI’s candidate for the by-poll, and Faisal Mir, PPP’s candidate, had filed complaints to the returning officer concerned against alleged involvement of around 16 federal and provincial ministers and parliamentarians for manoeuvring by-election in the party’s favour. It might be mentioned that Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir also participated in the rally and addressed the gathering along with Majid Zahoor. According to sources, the PTI has decided to file another complaint in the ECP against the violation of election code of conduct by Bilal Yasin, Majid Zahoor and Khawaja Imran Nazir.
