MITHI: Book ‘Je moun Gharya Thar men’ (Days I spent in Thar) of former deputy commissioner Thar, Abdul Qadir Mangi launched his bookh in a ceremony at a local cafe in Mithi Town. The author of the book, who devotedly served Thar for two years, said that he had tried to pen out unforgettable memories he had with the people of Thar during his stay in the desert region. He said that Thar was fast transforming and urged the youth to play their constructive role and get themselves in healthy activists. He recalled during his stint in office he enjoyed while dispensing his duties adding that he was very keen to promote art, culture and rich traditions of unique region. He urged people to write on various issues of the region, which according to him, needed more research by historians and experts. He was of the view that many aspects of arid zone were hitherto hidden. Commissioner Mirpurkhas division, Shafiq Ahmed Mehesar speaking as chief guest observed that an officer like Mangi were the persons of motivation for those still in services. He said services of Mangi for Tharis would long be remembered and were an integral part of the history. He said due to both social and regular media Thar was fast emerging as one of the new tourism spot in the country and adding that there was need to focus on positive aspects of area after monster of dry spell ended with abundant rains this year. Writer Professor Noor Ahmed Janjhi, Kirshan Sharma, Piyaro Shivani, Rakhail Moorai, Ms Pathani Kumbhar, Mama Vishan and others also addressed participants.
