GUJRANWALA: Patients have protested against the Gujranwala district headquarters hospital (DHQ) for lack of necessary facilities. Overcrowding and unhygienic conditions have become a norm in the hospital. There have been frequent protests by patients because of negligence of doctors. In the past, several complaints were registered against MS Dr Anwar Aman. There is no adequate check on provision of facilities and medicines for emergency patients. The DHQ hospital caters to the needs of the 3.5 million population of the district. However it lacks basic facilities. Due to shortage of space, patients have to share beds in the gynecology general wards. Owing to shortage of sufficient chairs, their attendants are also compelled to sit on the floor. The kidney ward also lacks facilities. Poor patients are being refused dialysis treatment. They have to wait up to two to three months for getting a dialysis. Talking to Daily Times, patients said that the hospital administration neglected its duties. They said that patients were referred to private clinics for x-ray and ultrasound tests. Man injures wife: A man injured his wife over a domestic dispute in Khayali Police precinct. Saira, 35, demanded money from her husband, Ramzan. “Ramzan got into a fit of rage and started beating up Saira with a stick. He fled after Saira was severely injured,” police said. Police are searching for him. Father, son killed in road accident: A man and his son died in a road accident in Kamoki. Shafaqat and his son Mazher were travelling to Lahore in a mini-truck. “Near Kamoki, another van collided with their vehicle. Both of them died on the spot,” police said. A case has been registered. Man robbed: A man was robbed in Satellite Town. Abdullah was returning home after withdrawing money from a private bank. “When he reached the Satellite Town market, four gunmen intercepted him and snatched money,” police said. The robbers then tried to flee in a car. However, they were apprehended by the people after their vehicle broke down. They were then handed over to police. Police said the suspects were identified as Ali Raza, Saeed, Attif and Shahid. Human traffickers: A Federal Investigation Agency team arrested three human traffickers from Gujranwala and Wazirabad. Proclaimed offenders Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Afzal were arrested from Ladhewala Warriach. Muhammad Akram Butt was arrested from Wazirabad. Cases registered: Gujranwala Anti Corruption Establishment Director Muhammad Ilyas Gill has ordered the registration of cases against seven people. According to details, Gujrat Deputy Director Colleges Malik Shams Ali has been accused of misappropriation of funds and laptops; Tehsildar Mian Nazir Naib for issuing a bogus transfer deed; education clerk Muhammad Younas for demanding bribes; ASI Ejaz and Rashid for accepting bribes, union council secretary Muhammad Kaleem for issuing bogus birth and death certificates and Mujahhad for issuing a bogus stamp paper.
