LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sunday announced to hold a big election rally in the city on September 14 in connection with the upcoming NA-120 by-election, scheduled to be held on September 17. Party’s Chairman Imran Khan will lead the rally. The decision to this effect was made at a meeting in which the party’s most influential leader after its head Jahangir Tareen and other local leaders participated. Earlier, Tareen reached Lahore on Sunday to mobilise and organise the by-election campaign of Dr Yasmin Rashid, the PTI’s candidate for the by-poll. Several other decisions were also made to fix responsibilities and duties of workers regarding the by-election. Also the PTI chairman, who is on a private foreign tour, would also reach Lahore today (Monday) from London. According to party sources, Imran will stay in the city until the by-poll. The meeting also decided that the rally likely to be led by Imran Khan would not enter the limits of the NA-120 constituency, as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had barred parliamentarians from participating in the election campaign of their respective candidates. Meanwhile, PTI candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid along with a number of female activists continued her door-to-door campaign in the constituency, urging people to vote for “change”. Imran had also issued directives to party leaders and organisers of the by-elections campaign to hold meetings with opponents of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to seek their support in connection with the by-election.
