Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 28-ball 48 and Irfan Khan’s 22-ball 27 powered the Karachi Kings to 165-5 in the 15th match of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Karachi on Wednesday. After being put in to bat, the Kings lost five wickets for 89, but it was Pollard, who showed resistance with the bat, along with Irfan Khan. Shan Masood played a cautious 30-ball 27, and Leus du Plooy (24 off 15) looked good for a while. But Hunain Shah removed Masood, while Salman got rid of du Plooy. For the United, Imad Wasim (1-20), Naseem Shah (1-29), Agha Salman (1-17) and Hunain Shah (1-30) took a scalp apiece. Earlier, Islamabad United, currently sitting fifth in the points table, will be looking to bounce back from a string of losses. They have only managed one win in their four games so far in the tournament, with the rest ending in defeat. Karachi Kings, on the other hand, come into the match in better form. They have played three matches, winning two and losing one, placing them at the third position in the standings. Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan will be hoping to lead his team to victory and climb the points table. They will need to put in a strong performance against a confident Karachi Kings side.
