KHYBER AGENCY: The Jamaat-e-Islam (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protested against the genocide of Rohingya Muslims on Sunday. A large numbers of workers and civil society members participated in the protest at Bacha Khan Chowk, Landi Kotal Bazaar. The protesters were carrying banners against massacre of Rohingya Muslims and were yelling full-throat slogans against the silence of the United Nation (UN) and other human rights organization over the matter. Addressing the occasion, Murad Hussain, Ziaul Haq Afrid, Haji Hassan and Abdul Razeq Shinwari condemned the killings and urged the world to play its role to stop the mass execution of Muslims in Myanmar. “UN advocates for animals rights but silent over killing of Burma Muslims that proves its step mother behavior towards Muslims,” they remarked. They also criticised Myanmar PM Aung San Suu Kyi for her criminal silence on the killings. The speakers urged the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) to adopt a joint stance to press Myanmar to stop the killings. They asked the government to cut diplomatic ties with Myanmar and expel their diplomats. The rally marched to Landi Kotal press club where it disperses peacefully after praying for the solidarity and unity of the Muslims. Meat for poor: The Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) FATA chapter has distributed 2,500 packs of sacrificial meat among deserving tribesmen across the tribal areas. In this correlation, an event was held yesterday at Shahkas area of Jamrud tehsil Khyber Agency wherein Secretary PRC FATA Saeed Kamal Mehsud, Disaster Management Officer PRC, Shehryar Khan, Khyber Coordinator Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) Zia Afridi and hundreds of tribesmen were also in attendance. Talking to media, Secretary PRC FATA said that the meat packs were distributed among tribesmen with support of the Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) and each family received 10 kg meat pack. Sharing details, he stated that around 500 families of Landi Kotal, Bara and Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency received meat packs. The same practice earlier took place in other parts of FATA as 1,000 deserving families of North Waziristan in Bannu, 500 each in Bajaur and Mohmand Agency received meat packs few days back, he added. The beneficiaries include displaced persons, disable and other deserving members of community. One of the tribesmen, Ali Afzal of Khyber Agency eulogized the welfare and humanitarian services of PRC FATA and saying the meat pack was admirable patronage by the organization. He clearly said the meat packs were given to deserving tribe’s people and that it should be continued in forthcoming time as well. He applauded the support of Turkish Red Crescent on even of Eidul Azha and it was highly lauded by militancy-hit-tribesmen of Khyber Agency. Injured: Two Khasadar officials sustained injuries when a stray mortar shell landed at Stara Mill area of Teshil Landi Kotal, administration and sources informed. Assistant Political Agent Niaz Muhammad while confirming the incident said that a stray mortar shell, fired by unidentified militants from undisclosed place grounded near Khasadar checkpoint, located at Pak-Afghan highway, wounded two on duty Khasadar. The injured were identified as Muntazir and Quaid-e-Azam and were shifted to Agency Headquarter Hospital, Landi Kotal for medical aid, Khasadars said. Soon after the occurrence the security agencies officials moved to the site and collected evidences for investigation, sources told.
