SARGODHA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said the government has taken control of almost all institutions except the Supreme Court (SC). Addressing a mammoth public gathering, the skipper said, “Nawaz Sharif has completely taken over and is controlling national institutions. The nation is looking towards the Supreme Court its last hope.” The Supreme Court in its April 20 verdict in the Panamagate case told Nawaz and his children, to appear before a joint investigation team (JIT) to fill out the ‘missing links’ about its offshore financial interests. The PM’s family was named in the Panama Papers: 11.5 million documents, showing how some of the world’s most powerful people have secreted away their money in offshore holdings. Secondly, Kaptaan said, “Nawaz buys loyalties of people and attempted to do the same to me. Is there anyone whose loyalties Nawaz hasn’t tried to buy?” he asked. The PTI supremo once again termed Dawn Leaks a conspiracy to malign Pakistan Army. “[The] PM’s media cell created an impression in the wake of Dawn Leaks that Nawaz wants to befriend India and is against terrorism but Pakistan Army is against it. “This is the same tone Indian PM Narendra Modi has been using against Pakistan.” The controversy, he said, was an international conspiracy to weaken the country as other global enemies, including Israel continue to plot against its nuclear programme. “The issue was also intended at diverting the world’s attention from the held Kashmir issue.” While the news leaks issue was “settled” between the military and the government earlier this week, Imran had expressed his displeasure, saying the issue was about national security, and the nation needed to know what was ‘settled’. About the power load shedding, the skipper said load shedding had reached its peak, adding that power outages and scarcity of water were being reported from every corner of the country. Taking a jibe at Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who in 2013 had said power crisis in the country would end within six months, the PTI chief said his name should be changed now. “We should name him either ‘Drama Sharif’ or ‘Showbaz Sharif,” he suggested. Imran said the PM’s lies have been exposed after the Qatari letter was rejected by the SC. Kaptaan promised that he will continue his “jihad” (struggle) against Nawaz irrespective of what the JIT concludes in the Panama Leaks case. Imran alleged that Nawaz was causing harm to Pakistan for his own interests. “Let me tell you loud and clear Nawaz Sharif, no matter what happens, I’m never gonna leave you.” He said Nawaz Sharif had taken money from Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden in 1989 to bring a no-trust motion against Benazir Bhutto’s government. The PTI chief pressed the government to make public the inquiry report about Dawn Leaks. “Dawn Leaks is an issue of Pakistan’s national security. It is not the issue between the government and army,” he asserted. “When Hillary Clinton was accused of breaching national security she lost the presidential election,” he opined. Khan said, “Those saying Army has backtracked, I want to ask them do you want army to impose the martial law?”
