GUJRANWALA: The district development committee has approved 96 schemes with an estimated cost of Rs 437 millions, all the schemes will be completed under the Prime Minister SDJs program. The meeting was headed by Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Muhammad Amir Jaan while additional deputy commissioner finance Noorish Saba, XEN building, XEN public health, local government and irrigations departments were also present in the meeting. It was mentioned in the meeting that most of the funds would be realized for the construction of new school buildings and basic health units in the district. DC directed the concerned officers to keep a close eye on the work while no negligence would be tolerated in this regard. Deputy Director development said that funds of all the schemes have been transferred in the SDA account of Commissioner Gujranwala. Shab-e-Barat: Shab-e-Barat was also observed nationwide and in Gujranwala with great religious zeal. With the setting of sun the faithful started gathering at mosques to offer special prayers for peace, progress and prosperity of the country, besides seeking forgiveness for their sins. The faithful also organized several gatherings and Mahafil-e-Naat to achieve the almighty’s blessing in the world and the life hereafter. People in large numbers also visited the grave yards and offered prayers at the graves of their love ones. Youth injured: A youth was injured in a fire cracker attack here at Satellite Town Gujranwala. It was reported that Muzammal, 12 years old was going home from school when someone threw a fire cracker at him, resultantly Muzammal sustained burn injuries at his hand and body. He was shifted to DHQ hospital by rescue 1122 team. Satellite town also launched an investigation. Clash: At least seven people including two women were injured as a result of a clash between two groups here at Minawali Bangla. It was told that enmity was going on between two rival groups while on Friday people of both the groups opened fire at each other resultantly Farasha, Sajida BB, Mohsin, Faisal, Kaleem etc received bullet wounds and were rushed to DHQ hospital. Police have started investigations.
