SUKKUR: At least five people, including security personnel, were martyred and eight others injured in a blast at a cement factory in Sukkur on Tuesday. Sukkur Police DIG Feroze Shah said that the explosion occurred when security personnel were engaged in defusing explosives found at a cement factory. Five people including two policemen, a Rangers soldier and two labourers were killed in the blast. Eight others, including six Rangers personnel, manager of the factory and a labourer were also injured. A heavy contingent of police arrived at the venue in the aftermath of the incident and started rescue operation. The injured were shifted to hospital. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the blast and sought a report from the police. Published in Daily Times, September 20th 2017.
