GUJRANWALA: A terrorist attack drill was conducted at the Central Jail on Thursday to check the preparedness of jail wardens and other law enforcement agencies as well as the efficacy of its security system. Jail police, district police, Rescue 1122, district administration, Bomb Disposal Squad and ambulance services took part in the exercise while Jail Superintendent Chaudhary Asghar Ali monitored the personnel’s performance in the exercise. As the mock terrorists launched an attack on the prison during the exercise security personnel moved into action and overpowered them. The jail’s CCTV cameras were also checked as well as time taken for the security personnel, civil departments, fire brigade and ambulance services to respond to the attack. The superintendent appreciated the security team’s performance and said that the jail administration and police were prepared to cope with any threat. Six dacoits arrested: The police arrested six members from two dacoit gangs in different raids on Thursday. According to police the first raid was conducted by CIA police in which four accused named Shabbir, Awais, Abu-al-Hassan and Ejaz were arrested. The second raid was conducted by the Baghbanpura police during which two accused named Ali Raza and Farooq were arrested. Illegal arms were confiscated from the arrested individuals. Theatres closed: A notification was issued from Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Amir Jan which declares that theatres are to remain sealed for the first ten days of Muharram.
