LAHORE: The 13th Pakistan Junior Amateur Golf Championship gets going at the awesome designer Rumanza Golf Course in Multan from Friday (today). The consummate and gifted young players of the national golf scene will be competing for honours and recognition as players of the future. Organised by the Pakistan Golf Federation, the national golf body of the country, this championship will also serve as an occasion for conducting of Faldo Series trials and the winner of each age category will represent Pakistan at the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final. A total of 70 accomplished and expertise loaded young ones are participating for higher achievements. Age categories are four and includes segments for under-16 and under-21 for boys and girls. These aspirants for honours have undergone rigorous preparation and hope to come up to the expectations of the experts who are overseeing this championship. And the championship committee includes Brig Fayyaz Ahmed Sial, Salman Sabir Abbasi and Malik M Kamran. From the competitive angle, boys will tee off from White tees and girls from Red tees with course distances of 6500 yards for boys and 5600 yards for girls. Closing ceremony will take place on January 7 and chief guest will be Lt Gen Qazi Muhammed Ikram, President of the Pakistan Golf Federation. For these young aspirants, playing and competing at the world class Rumanza Golf Course will be a rewarding experience.
