KHYBER AGENCY: A Pakistan Army officer was martyred in firing from the Afghan side of the border on Saturday. An army statement said that terrorists fired from across the border on a newly-established Pakistani border post in Rajgal in Khyber Agency. “Lieutenant Arsalan Alam, the officer commanding the post, was hit while performing his duties and later embraced martyrdom,” a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. “When the Pakistan Army soldiers retaliated, three militants were killed and two others were injured,” ISPR said. The militants took the bodies of their dead colleagues and fled to Afghanistan. A massive search operation was launched in the area following the attack. Lt Arsalan Alam, 22, was the only son of his parents and had three sisters, family sources said. Pakistan has established several posts in Rajgal valley to stop the cross-border movement of the militants, particularly the Islamic State, who reportedly operate from parts of eastern Nangarhar province.
