KARACHI: Director, Safari and Alladin Amusement Park (AAP) has decided dismantling illegal outlets in Alladin amusement site after October 5, 2017. In this connection show cause notices on more than 22 insider and 200 such illegal business occupiers outside the site respectively has been served and mechanism for removal has already been chalked out, officials of Alladin have informed. During last ten years, these outlet businesses have been ignored by the administration of AAP. This action has become possible after putting ban on illegal demands of officials of site from outlet owners. Kunwar Ayub, Director in this regard has issued notices on September 18, 2017 to shopkeepers and stall holders inside and outside AAP that sparked anger among illegal occupants. He said that assistance of Karachi Metropolitan Anti Encroachment Department and community police KMC has been sought in this respect. The legally allotted nearly more than 400 shops outside the site have been allowed to continue their commercial activities. These outlets have been given permission under signed agreements with them on monthly rent basis according to the sizes of shops. KMC in 1987, on a 25-year agreement had allotted 52 acres of land to Shamsi and Company for building a commercial park with laying down laws that only 30 percent of the land would be used for commercial purposes. But in sheer violation, Company has spread out its commercial activities on more than 70 percent of land. The decision on four wedding halls constructed on six acres of land inside AAP would also be taken in due course of time, officials of AAP informed. Col Zahid Ahmad (retd), administrator Alladin Shopping Mall has however maintained that any detail to be sought in this context could be taken from KMC as he was an employ of AAP. The commercial activities at AAP have been increasing day by day which was sheer violation of KMC’s rules and regulations set for this public fun site. The AAP administration on its own had rented out open sites of 22 stalls inside its premises to private parties on monthly rent of Rs 80,000 to Rs 100,000. It is the largest park in Pakistan where people come and enjoy with their families. The AAP has also water-park facility. Published in Daily Times, September 27th 2017.
