Sir: There was pandemonium at the court on the occasion of Ishaq Dar’s appearance in the assets’ reference case. The administration showed it’s complete inability to control the situation. In an open hearing the media cannot be restricted from reporting the proceedings. Even the Senior lawyers were stopped from entering the court room. After some time the accused was whisked to the court for the hearing. The ruling party is deliberately trying to create confusion. They have done a lot of planning to disrupt the proceedings and they seem to be succeeding in their designs. Security was out-numbered by Dar loyalists who made it difficult to hold the proceedings against him. The genie has been let out of the bottle, and it will be very difficult to put back. The reference against him pertained to the accumulation of assets beyond his means. He was unable to explain the discrepancies shown to him on paper. I think the proceedings should have been brief and decisive. The courts doors were closed for the public and proceedings were held on camera. The Judge indicted the accused who denied all the charges. The case has been adjourned for October 4, 2017 for further hearing. I hope the next time better sense will prevail.
