KHYBER AGENCY: The tribesmen of Khuga Khel staged a protest demonstration against the National Logistic Cell (NLC) in Torkham on Thursday. Dozens of locals holding black flags and chanting slogans against NLC marched from Bacha Khan Chawk, Landi Kotal Bazaar to the local press club where the rally culminated into a public gathering. Addressing to the protesters, Abdurraziq Shinwari, Mirajuddin and others criticised the NLC for violating the contract signed with the organization. They accused NLC of forcibly possessing land belonging to Khuga Khel tribe. “According to the agreement, 300 kanals lands had been given to NLC for establishing its terminal, but now the organisation wants to seize 2,700 kanals of land,” they said. They said that NLC had blocked several routes in Torkham Bazaar, utilized by dwellers of Bacha Mena villagers for their movement. They said that the NLC management was responsible for the mismanagement in Torkham. “For one reason or the other, NLC staff harasses local traders,” they said. They warned the NLC officials must honour the agreement. “Otherwise, we will launch an agitation movement against the NLC,” they said. Published in Daily Times, September 29th 2017.
