PESHAWAR: The Milli Muslim League (MML) has formally inaugurated its office in Peshawar, and also announced support for an independent candidate running for NA-4 by-election scheduled for October 26. The office, located on Kohat Road, was inaugurated on Wednesday. MML President Saifullah Khalid, Farooq Khan of Tehreek-e-Nojawanan group and independent candidate for NA-4 by-polls Alhaj Liaqat Ali Khan attended the ceremony. Announcing support for Khan, party chief Khalid said the by-election was no longer between political parties but between the “forces of good and evil, Pakistan and United States and Pakistan and Narendra Modi’s India”. He claimed the MML would stand by the forces of good in the years to come. Khalid urged the constituency’s residents to vote for Khan and put an end to the forces that come into power by fueling sectarianism and linguistic divides. The MML had announced founding of a political party on August 7 this year. Khalid, the son-in-law of Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, was named as its president. The party surprised everyone last month when its candidate, Yaqoob Sheikh, managed to bag 5,822 votes on September 17 by-election in NA-120 Lahore, surpassing Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan People’s Party.
