RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi Registry on Thursday grated bail to two former police officer convicted in the Benazir Bhutto murder case. A division bench of the LHC Rawalpindi Registry – consisting of Justice Tariq Abbasi and Justice Habib Ullah – heard the bail application of former Rawalpindi CCPO Saud Aziz and Rawal SSP Khurram Shehzad. The former policemen were convicted by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) and sentenced to 17 years behind the bars. After hearing arguments of the counsel for the petitioners, the court granted bail to the convicts upon submission of surety bonds to the tune of Rs 200,000 each. ATC judge Mohammad Asghar Khan on August 30 had awarded 17-year imprisonment to both the officials in the murder case. Published in Daily Times, October 6th 2017.
