KARACHI: An oil tanker carrying about 50,000 liters of spirit fuel overturned on the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed area on Friday, authorities stated. The oil tanker was on its way from Faisalabad to Karachi when the incident occurred. Following the incident, police reached the site and cordoned off the area as to avoid any untoward incident and rescue officials also reached the site with relevant machinery to stop the spread of fuel in the area. Police authorities stated that they were doing their best to ensure that an incident similar to the Ahmedpur Sharqiya does not occur. Locals said that rescue personnel reached the site quite a while after the incident and did not have the required foam to curb the spread of fuel or relevant machinery with them.
