SEHWAN: A suspect from the Sehwan attack has been arrested from the shrine of Laal Shahbaz Qalandar on Tuesday. “Afghan and Pakistani currency that the man was carrying was seized from his possession, with a cross sign on Pakistani currency along with pictures of four Afghan nationals.” the police told media. Earlier this year a suicide bomber attacked the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan killing over 90 people and injuring several others. In May, this year, intelligence agencies arrested a suspected facilitator of the incident from Uthal, Balochistan. Tahir, the suspect, was allegedly responsible for providing the suicide bomber along with facilitators from Uthal to Sehwan. Tahir also helped transport the facilitators out of Sehwan following the blast. Tahir is associated with several banned outfits like Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Daesh etc and has been wanted for a long time for his involvement in the Sehwan attack. However, Pandrani is believed to be the mastermind behind the entire Sehwan attack by the police and intelligence agencies. The urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is celebrated every year in the Islamic month of Shabaan, which this year has fallen in May. Devotees from all over the country and across the border come to the shrine in Sehwan to pay their respects and a mela (fair) is organised for the event. Following the blast at Sehwan, the shrine is regarded a sensitive place but devotees have not let this affect or falter their religious/spiritual duties towards the Saint, Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
