ISLAMABAD: The 6th edition of Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) Jinnah Development Tournament progressed towards the final phase at the par-71, Piffer’s Golf and Country Club Golf Course in Abbottabad on Wednesday. With two rounds completed the proficient and masterly ones were several which mirrored well for the professional golf scene of Pakistan. Out of the 63 second tier professional golfers seeking national acceptance and commendation, a total of 45 competitors made the cut and their performances and skills can be appraised as sufficiently satisfactory. As for the front liners, three contenders were bunched together as leaders and were poised for good prize money and bountiful rewards. Manzoor Abbasi of Islamabad with two rounds scores of 69 and 73 and a two-round aggregate of 142 appeared as a dominant force and equally assertive and potent were M Azam (Quetta) and M Afzal (Okara). Azam with two-round scores of 72 and 70 matched the aggregate score of 142 achieved by Manzoor and also placed at 142 was Afzal. His scores for two rounds were 72 and 70. These three technically strong players seek to outmaneuver each other in the final 18 holes on Thursday (today). A few more mentionables were M Asif, Rehmatullah and Jafal Hussain placed at a score of 146. The tournament will conclude today.
